What
is CHA? CHA is a non-profit organization founded
in 1967 to develop a means to test and evaluate
riding program staff for risk management skills,
teaching ability, horsemanship knowledge and professionalism.
CHA is the largest and most active instructor
certification system in North America.
CHA's
Mission CHA's mission is to advance excellence in horsemanship,
safety and education to benefit individuals and group
riding programs. This mission is accomplished
by recognizing and promoting safety standards, certifying
instructors and trail guides and by providing support
and educational resources.
Benefits of CHA Standards The primary focus of CHA is SAFETY.
Good horse management, effective programming and
creative teaching methods are stressed. Like CHA
Instructor/Trail Guide Certification, CHA Standards
are specially designed for group riding programs.
• The CHA Standards for Group Riding Programs
were put together by drawing from the bank of knowledge
of experts and "field workers" in group riding
programs.
• They have been tested over a period of time both
practically and legally. Standards are in a constant
state of analysis. Programs or instructors striving
to achieve CHA Standards are reaching toward high goals
in safety and education.
